These songs retrace the history of Florence, from medieval times to modern days.

1) Francesco Landini was one of the most famous and revered composers of the second half of the 14th century, and by far the most famous composer in Italy.

2) This song is about the Great Black Plague that arrived in Florence in 1348.

3) The quote "And we shall toll our bells" came from Piero Capponi, a statesman and warrior from Florence. It was pronouced during the Italian Wars to the king of France, in sign of refusal to bow to their upcoming invasion of the city.

4) Francesco Ferruccio - or Ferrucci - was an Italian captain from Florence who fought in the Italian Wars, earning a reputation as a daring fighter and swashbuckler. He perished heroically on the 3rd of August 1530.

5) "Sic Transit Gloria Mundi" were the last words spoke before death by Gian Gastone de' Medici, last Grand Duke of the famous Medici family, known for his debauchery.

6) This song is self-referential to the band.

7) About the decadence of modern day Florence and the "requiem" of a glorious past.
